Teaching Bible School... From Cheryl Carswell... Stewardship as a Bible School Catechist is Ministry of the Word to the youth of our Parish and helping the students learn to live a Christian life. The classes are taught based on the Venture Series, which has weekly lesson plans based on the Gospels and has an easy to follow and understand Teacher/Parent Guide. Assistants are needed to help with the Bible School Program. It can allow you to know the children, greet them and call them by name. From Cindy Crawford... I enjoy being involved with Bible School because it's a way of getting to know the children. My job consists of bible school registration, taking attendance, mailing lessons to those who were absent and making copies. When my job is done I can fellowship with the parents waiting for their children and some of the teens. From Michele Bodden... Hello. This was my first year teaching Bible School. I taught fourth and fifth grade. I can't say enough how surprised I was to realize I actually enjoyed it! I got to interact with a great group of kids. Getting to know the familiar faces I would see each Sunday was very rewarding. Our young people are smart, talented and eager to learn. They are constantly looking for ways to put their faith in action. They challenge each of us to do the same. Since learning is always a two-way street, while preparing the weekly lessons, I recalled concepts I'd forgotten and picked up new ideas about faith in general and Catholic teachings specifically. Both helped me grow spiritually. I encourage anyone who has even the slightest interest of getting involved in the religious education to look further. Review the materials, sit in on a class. Get to know the youngest members of the parish. It's a great way to share a piece of yourself and serve the parish. You'll be surprised by how the spirit moves within when you do! |
